What's
cooking in the field of web design in 2012
One
of the areas of web design that is currently growing is typography. Do you find
this term ambiguous? Basically, it's all about applying some special
arrangements to the text we produce. Speaking from the web design perspective,
it boils down to making your text look visually pleasing by mixing fonts of
various shapes, sizes, or creating various color combinations. Despite the fact
that the form is here to catch your site visitors' attention, as a web designer you should not fail to provide adequate content. Currently, the typography method is being widely implemented, as yet another way of making a website look attractive. It is not a recent invention, but in 2012 we could notice that it's constantly spreading all around the Internet.
There
is yet some other phenomenon that became quite widespread recently, namely the
single page websites. The whole idea is very simple - the content is grouped on
one page only, instead of being scattered all around the website. Such sites appear
to be much easier to navigate for an average Internet user and 2012 has seen a
spike in popularity of websites designed in that mode.
Apart
from this, in 2012 many web designers appear to have started considering
themselves as great drawers. Obviously, their works are not targeted at
exhibitions of fine art. Nevertheless, the ideas they put on a piece of paper
(or whatever it was, be it a drawing application on their computers) seem to
gain ground nowadays. Websites with hand-drawn
design
have become a fade recently. The whole phenomenon started to flourish, which
seems like a great runaway from the cold, default templates most websites still
rely.
Throughout this year we
could witness a growing popularity of large background images. There is a spate
of websites that have incorporated this element into their design. The idea behind this
seems really simple – the big image put behind the text takes up the whole
screen. It is supposed to catch the user's eye and stick in their mind
afterward. It is a very efficient and cheap way of promoting products, if we
take commercial websites into consideration. After all, these large background
images truly resemble huge billboards, don't they?
